You fed them your lies and you stole, all their earnings away You made a market for those that want to be saved What you're doing isn't something new Religion is an ancient form of revenue Your pockets fill as you betray their trust Your gaudy cross encased in rust The needy starve while you take your fill Eyes to the sky with your hand in the till You spread the plague while you sell the cure, a modern-day zealot entrepreneur You take advantage of those who seek the help, by selling pardons from hell Your scripture says give up what you own, but yet you preach from a golden throne Without sin, they'd have no reason to buy into belief turned enterprise (belief turned enterprise) You lie, you steal You'll be dragged down by your greed You're nothing more than a pious thief You'll never admit, you only bow to the gilded profit You spread the plague while you sell the cure, a modern-day zealot entrepreneur You take advantage of those who seek the help, by selling pardons from hell Your scripture says give up what you own, but yet you preach from a golden throne Without sin, they'd have no reason to buy into belief turned enterprise You hoard every dollar you find But if you practiced what you preached you'd leave it all behind You can't pull your riches through a needle's eye You can't save us from a falling sky You spread the plague while you sell the cure, a modern day zealot entrepreneur You take advantage of those who seek the help, by selling pardons from hell Your scripture says give up what you own, but yet you preach from a golden throne Without sin, they'd have no reason to buy into belief turned enterprise

We're a nation of expectations, entitled children who have more than most Gluttons with an insatiable greed, who feel entitled to the wealth of their father's ghost Our grasp surpassed by our reach Our ends don't justify the means (Our ends don't justify!) Copy and pasting what we're told, instead of thinking on our own There's no more common sense, there's only indifference Everyone wants a helping hand but when the role is reversed we put our heads in the sand What has become of us? United in fear and divided by mistrust Taking what we feel we deserve Motives hide like wolves in the herd Ostracize those who don't agree Vilified by fraudulent decree Copy and pasting what we're told, instead of thinking on our own There's no more common sense, there's only indifference Everyone wants a helping hand but when the role is reversed we put our heads in the sand What has become of us? United in fear and divided by mistrust We're no longer individuals We're all part of the plan We are, the infernal machine Fueled by oil, and driven by greed We are, the all-seeing eye Scorching the earth, and burning the sky Have we forgotten, what separates us from the beasts? Are we too complacent to bite the hand that feeds? Bite the hand that feeds (Are we too complacent) to bite the hand?

When it began, this was a place for the outcasts with nowhere to call their home It was about a release, the world ceased It was a shelter from the outside Now it's about the moves you make Now it's about the games you play It's not about the dedication It's about the industry You chose the lie over honesty You put the hype before integrity Take me back to the days of honest hearts It was about the passion It was about the art (Take me back) Now it's your image and who you know Instead of talent that defines your growth (Take me back) We had to learn from our stumbles and falls, when it was all so beautifully flawed It used to be about expressing your mind, but now that message is harder and harder to find You're more concerned with what they'll think then truly saying anything What once was pure, you tainted Indifference, you've created Now gimmicks lead to fame Now everybody sounds the same You chose the lie over honesty You put the hype before integrity Take me back to the days of honest hearts It was about the passion It was about the art (Take me back) Now it's your image and who you know Instead of talent that defines your growth (Take me back) We had to learn from our stumbles and falls, when it was all so beautifully flawed Take me back to the days of honest hearts Take me back to when the passion fueled the art Take me back (take me back) Take me back, take me back To the days of honest hearts Take me back, to the days of honest hearts Take me back to when the passion fueled the art Take me back Take me back

I used to think I was unique, that I would never be swayed I was convinced that I could never be changed I was naïve, thinking I'd be any different than those Those who I had no respect for I refused to see, held on to my belief, that I was somehow better than them I'm not better than them And I can't help but think that I've sacrificed the qualities That keep me distinct from everyone else Am I so arrogant that I Believe I'm not another version of what I have come to despise? Once my breath had left the mirror, I could see myself much clearer I couldn't hide from who I had become Just as guilty as everyone My reflection doesn't look, doesn't look the same I'm staring at an unfamiliar face And I can't help but think that I've sacrificed the qualities That keep me distinct from everyone else Am I so arrogant that I Believe I'm not another version of what I have come to despise? The image I expected to see was no longer staring back at me The image I expected to see was no longer staring back at me Enemy, staring back at me Enemy, staring back at me And I can't help but think, have I sacrificed everything? And I can't help but think that I've sacrificed the qualities That keep me distinct from everyone else Am I so arrogant that I Believe I'm not another version of what I have come to despise? I'm just another version of what I have come to despise My reflection doesn't look, doesn't look the same

White knuckle grip on the world, and we're not letting go (we're not letting go) Never living outside of the moment, we're young and out of control We're never living outside of the moment, we're young and out of control We cut the strings and set ourselves free We are a dying breed In debt to death, we live, and whether seconds or years we all pay, we'll pay in the end So we live at the edge just to see how close we can get So when we're put in the ground we'll have no regrets We stand above the soil, because we're not finished yet Like the flame of a candle we live on borrowed time, so we burn quick and burn bright Youth is a commodity that you can't take to your grave If you don't spend it all then it's taken away We cut the strings and set ourselves free We are who we want to be In debt to death, we live, and whether seconds or years we all pay, we'll pay in the end So we live at the edge just to see how close we can get So when we're put in the ground we'll have no regrets We stand above the soil, because we're not finished yet No one looks back in time, when they're frail and thin On how quiet their life was and how safe they'd been Cut the strings and set yourself free In debt to death, we live, and whether seconds or years we all pay, we'll pay in the end So we live at the edge just to see how close we can get So when we're put in the ground we'll have no regrets

Ignorance is bliss How many chances do we need to turn the tides? Instead of living we're just striving to survive We're all smiles (Ignorance is bliss!) I don't want to live like this Don't let them make your choices for you They're making choices that we can't undo We saw the clouds roll in They said there's no storm within Just watch the screen, it will be over soon They told us not to take shelter from the rain But then we wonder why we washed away We eat up their lies, do what we're told We're accustomed to a sugar-coated world We're so scared that things aren't what they seem We let those fucking liars tell us what to believe How many chances do we need to turn the tides? Instead of living we're just striving to survive We're all smiles, ignorance is bliss I don't want to live like this We tune in so they can feed us hope There's nothing wrong as long as we don't know We refuse to question cause we're scared of the answers Our eyes are open, but we look away We'd prefer to be distracted than see the world for what it is today My eyes are open My eyes are open A gilded world is all I see, but gold can't hide what's underneath

These things that weigh you down, don't let them get the best of you because we all, we all, we all have burdens to bear In the beginning it was only what he would drink, until she told him she was going to leave Yet she forgave him every time; refused to judge him for his crime Just run away Run away from those that hold you down, that hold you down The longer you tread these waters, the more likely you will drown So find a way, find a way to shed these burdens that you've kept You can't expect to move on, until you take the first step Time only made things worse The violence more commonly occurred Long sleeves in 100 degrees Glasses hide the eyes she doesn't want to be seen Like brush strokes up her wrist, scars paint the tale of when she tried to leave it all behind She had no more to give Every night spent with him was another night she might not survive She had to go, she realized he wasn't worth the bruises and black eyes She packed her bags and took her keys from the drawer, as he walked through the front door Just run away Run away from those that hold you down, that hold you down The longer you tread these waters, the more likely you will drown So find a way, find a way to shed these burdens that you've kept You can't expect to move on, until you take the first step He saw her bags were packed, when he came home He rushed at her, she ran for the phone He lost his mind, she feared for her life, he reached for her arm and she reached for a knife Just run away Run away from those that hold you down, that hold you down The longer you tread these waters, the more likely you will drown So find a way, find a way to shed these burdens that you've kept You can't expect to move on, until you take the first step We all, we all, we all have burdens to bear

This is where I belong It may not always feel right, but it never feels wrong And I appreciate everything you do, this gift you've given me, this dream you've helped me pursue This life that I lead is not something that I want It's something that I need Without this I'd be lost That's not to say that I've found my way, but I'm starting to see through the fog That doesn't mean that' I've learned anything about who I'm supposed to be That doesn't mean that' I've learned anything about who I'm supposed to be But in this moment all that matters is that I'm free I am free, I am free, I am free to be me I found a home, the only place that I don't feel alone Found my security Without this I'd be lost That's not to say that I've found my way, but I'm starting to see through the fog That doesn't mean that' I've learned anything about who I'm supposed to be This is who I'm supposed to be When even home feels strange, this is my escape, a thousand miles away, I am free A place I can hide from the weight of the world and the vices inside, I am free The life that I lead is not something that I want, but it's something that I need, that I need Without this I'd be lost That's not to say that I've found my way, but I'm starting to see through the fog That doesn't mean that' I've learned anything about who I'm supposed to be

Look at my life, tell me what do you see? Someone that's given up, or someone that still believes? I find meaning in what you try to avoid You've come to build it up, but I've come to destroy I go through life one day at a time I'm at peace with the filth and the grime No possessions, but I've seen the world I smashed the oyster and found my own pearl We don't live for the future, and we aren't held back by our past We are, we are, we are uncommon trash We don't live according to your plan You can't judge what you don't understand You live your life in constant fear, took a hammer to your standards We don't need them here We don't live for the future, and we aren't held back by our past We are, we are, we are uncommon trash You don't matter here We're not concerned with what you think of me I don't matter here I'm not concerned with what you think of me We don't matter here I'm not concerned with what you think of me Nothing matters here I'm not concerned with what you think of me We don't live for the future, and we aren't held back by our past We are, we are, we are uncommon trash We're not going anywhere

There's no hope, no goals It's like we've lost all control No meaning, no dreams It's like we've lost any reason to be You get so sure that it's the end that you forget to try; you forget to live You've seen the worst, thought there was nothing left You've felt alone, felt left for dead But we have been there too We've seen the walls close in, the light leave the room We've seen the world turn their backs, turn their back, turn their back on me We've been through far too much just to give up now Life is too uncertain to be sure that things won't change Don't wait for your life, just to happen But we have been there too We've seen the walls close in, the light leave the room We've seen the world turn their backs, turn their back, but the fact that we all share this bond Is all the strength that I need to keep moving on To prove to them that I won't remain on the ground On the ground All of us have been knocked down before Use the strength of each other to get off of the floor You're not alone, we know who you are We all have the same scars So when you've lost the will to carry on, know the night is darkest before the dawn You can't carry the weight of the world on your own
