Adrift in Remorse
The years are not kind Can not rewind Hurtful words said More than a heart Full of regret Veins darken like Lines of nights Etched upon dry parchment of time Burnt out Scalded Splatter of time Code of our design Another fractured night for anguish to devour Eyes reigned clouds Mist obscures the ground Empty voices fill the lake of dread Drowned in Engulf Agony gets easier every day Learning to accept the loss And bottling the pain Numbness the remedy for inevitable decay Must move on to another host This one is a ghost

I overslept When you awoke Me in your suitcase Folded loosely as to hang From your apartment doorway You let me out Why are you, accusing me of honesty? How could you assume? You cannot read my tone You let me out Don't become one of them With their words all thin Brittle Sentiment Broken by a promise I lay the out, line of a man Swirling Grey, and white Brilliant in the shadow, and duller in the light You can use me to find, your way into, a lost cause Stand there, watch me, and listen to the wind No desire to remain, must be removed from this place

I watched the sun slip away gently, as the last bit of light faded from your eyes Never thought that you would depart Always thought that you would remain A constant in my life A part of my landscape Never thought that this was forever Always knew that you would escape from here How foolish could one be to lock you away How selfish could one be not let you leap Now the night sky devoid the moon Echoes with the memory of, of dying stars I felt your grip loosen in my hand And the last bit of warmth left you cold Tell me why do I still feel you? Why?
