Refugium

With the sense of security and the sunlight in my face I open my eyes once again just to realize that nothing has changed. My life is an endless street fading away in the untouched distance, with no hope to reach what they called the sense of life, the meaning of existence. With every step it feels like the next read leaf falls off my tree of life. With every step I ask myself "Is it worth to survive?". With every look in the mirror I see those worried eyes in a broken place. And with every day that has come to an end I'm one step closer to the edge. One last resort, warm and silent. A secret shelter is my ardent desire. Oh please preserve myself from this fire which is burning deep in my chest while the world I knew lays to rest. Incredibility, don't believe what they say! Treachery, cold steel at my back! Controversy, you versus me! Insanity, please set me free, please set me free. Set me free!

Darkness sets in and the lights lay to rest, it's the rise of a sorcerous night. Just flames of ancient fires keep me alive. Is it all just a dream or distorted reality? Could it be true, could it be real, or is it just a parody of fantasy? Clear thoughts in fight, rituals of another time. Magic rites in a worthless world, the spirits of our fathers are present tonight. Take a deep breath, open your mind, receive the power of those burning lights. Silent pictures all around me, they're nothing but empty frames. Violent memories are stalking me, blank faces without names. Somber days collected on a wall, cold stone testifys my downfall. I miss the sky, miss the smile of the sun. I hate this place, I hate what I've become. I am caught between this walls, I am caught in a prison of thoughts. Broken glass, bleeding flesh, face to the floor. I don't want to be a slave of my fears anymore. I ask myself what's behind these walls I've built myself long time ago. In my dreams the thrones are forsaken, endless silence is my legacy. I am the only one left unbroken, left in a ruined realm of Debris. We came with nothing, and with empty hands we'll have to leave. We called this life a game, but near the end I've realized that we can't lose or win, with no regrets I am here to pay the price. Abandoned streets full of memories I've left behind display the happiness of a long forgotten time. Pale reflections like movies from the past show young and guiltless eyes, imaged on cold glass. Full of hope, the mien unburdened, bring me solace to the place where I will eternally dwell.

The hope that I'm not just dreaming led me through the dark like the far away gleam of a dying sun. Caught between the lies about a working world and the oppressive idea of the truth. It was always easy to believe what they say without bringing it into question. But my inner voice literally screams to wake up, it's time to leave this somnia. Open your eyes, don't turn away. I can feel the rain on my skin, washing away the burden of bygone days. I never thought I would laugh again but the clouds are gone. The sun enlightens my soul again, I am coming home. Just watch the sunset and listen to the wind, in peaceful silence hear the voice within. Take this moment, it's all that I can give. A tearless farewell as my very last gift. There is no reason to grieve for me. I am not gone forever, I just break free. It is predestined to leave this world in solitude, but someday you will follow. Be sure someday you'll cross my way again! Gentle creeks drawn in soil like silhouettes of another world. A breath of wind tells of somber fates but all those sorrows dwell so far away. Just watch the sunset and listen to the wind. Hear my words, I'm the voice within. Take this moment! It's my last chance for one last farewell, for one last dance. There is no reason for you to cry. I have left this place but I have not died. We always knew that nothing lasts forever, so one day you will leave as well. One day you'll break this worldly spell! This life felt like an endless search for the place where I belong, for my saving resort. This life led me to the gates of what we couldn't see to find my final shelter where I'm not just a refugee. You saved my life for so many years but I had to pass the threshold beyond my fears. I've seen this place in my dreams night by night. My own Refugium, my own realm on the other side. Mellow lands so old and wise, like untouched clouds up in the sky. A breath of wind whispers your name. Oh please come home, this life was just a game.
