Once, upon a daydream in the sun I was squelching wellies in the Mud and muck, when mother called me home 'Stay indoors, and promise you won't go' I thought I saw you there Late that night, I crept outside once more Marched the mud along the kitchen Floor, the door was open wide again Easy to escape my country pen And in the dead of night I left my house behind What was my mother hiding from her only son? On a gorgeous april morning In the south of England I was floating on a wooden boat Down the stream and far away 'Tween the dew-kissed reeds I sailed A normal day Through the lily leaves, I believe I saw a River Dragon What a wish for spring!
