Lies take on a golden hue Bleeding from the working few The dying rays of broken sons Cast shadows that bleed into one I’ll never know what it meant to you Similar lives bred separate views That we both need to carry on Running barefoot on the shards Destruction reigns an empty throne She screams “There’s no going home” Carrion lost to a simple trick Muscle is picked from the bone Vultures will not sleep or save us now Jointly we might stand our ground Stand on my shoulders Examine the throne Shadows play tricks in the light Blow out the candle The specter is gone She’s never coming home

Have we gone blind? I used to sing of finding light in the darkened skies above No fleeting glimpse All hope is bleeding from this shell The wolves are snapping at all sides Consuming fear The faith I held is fractured like a mirror Both sides reflect the darkness of the other Without the will to look inside We cut our wrists on the divide And I am bleeding out with no one there beside me No fleeting glimpse No hope remains inside this hell The noose is gripping at my neck with every breath Our life is drained We’re being punished for our crimes The executioner calls out a final time Offering wealth and wine, take my hand and twist the knife We’re depraved and reviled, welcoming eternal night The faith I held is fractured like a mirror Both sides reflect the darkness of the other Without the will to look inside We cut our wrists on the divide And I’m retreating now into the silence of the starless skies Into the starless skies Eternal rest Merciful death

I awake in a perfect hell - genus ex nihilo This shell filled with another man’s paradise Holds only a whisper of my past life I’m trapped between worlds, a dream within a dream Draw me a picture, a still frame in your mind That records all the pieces left inside of me Know my beginnings, the trials that life brings Or wash away my ashes in the sea For in that sleep of death what dreams may come? The one of a life taken by a man wearing my flesh. Three gates to hell before me, the sea, the sky, my mind With this key, a blade, release me. These skies hold no salvation No peace lies beneath the dust Where is the answer? A distant voice repeating The final gate is calling out to me The choice is easy, awaken from my sleep Or wash away my ashes in the sea Cleanse me in the tides of the sea

As I burned one Through smoke-lit eyes I pushed too far past a glorious high Into a void Devoid of light I lost control of muscle and mind And so I stepped Close to the edge My mandible broken on the end of a night Succumbing to shock I clung to my life Just as my tongue was hanging agape to my eyes And so I fell Into the night Psilocybin dreams Claiming my mind Into a void There is no savior Where is my life? Where is my darling now? Became lost from space and time And you were scared You saw my bloodied body Your greatest fear Had been fully realized I wasn’t there Both of us saw the end And I wasn’t dead No, I still had life
