[Caratacus:] Bonfires burn, ancient chants of ritual In the sanctuaries of power Painted faces, the purifying fire And the blade that cuts through skin. The druid spoke of the dark side of fear: Omens of a cruel time The forest will howl and the land will cry out, falling stars. [Claudius:] Britain will bend the knee! I am the emperor! [Caratacus:] My people will fight back! [Claudius:] I, Claudius, shall prevail in all magnificence! [Caratacus:] Oh, you will hit the ground! How can we hold on? Every tribe on it's own Each man a chimera Each sword a different truth. We don't share a common ground As a nation we are scattered, no! Some will try to find a way to ally with the invader. May the gods protect us from this fortune The woods will be our shelter. [Claudius:] War Drums are rumbling. [Caratacus:] As spirits from far beyond. [Claudius:] You must now march. [Caratacus:] Show no mercy, give them hell. [Claudius:] Achieve all glory and conquer the south. [Caratacus:] No surrender, we won't fall! [Claudius:] Legions! For me you fight! The demons in the shadows, children of Pluto They leave a trace of blood behind Their chests are naked you can hear their voices roar And their faces crossed by unholy scars. And the terror again, the battle, the sweat The scent of dripping blood Hold your wound for it's fact, you no longer will see the dawn. Britain will bend the knee! I am the emperor! [Caratacus:] My people will fight back! [Claudius:] I, Claudius, shall prevail in all magnificence! [Caratacus:] Oh, you will hit the ground! [Claudius:] Our glory awaits us! You fight for me! [Caratacus:] We raise our swords! And we die on our feet! We mourn the dead in battle while we watch them burn Wails can be heard from, everywhere Villages are ashes, remains of yesterday In the fields there is nothing left to grow. But the path is so clear, you die or resist Under Rome's evil grasp I won't live. [Claudius:] Until the end! [Claudius and Caratacus:] History will know that we fought and we died to be free. [Claudius:] Britain will bend the knee! I am the emperor! [Caratacus:] My people will fight back! [Claudius:] I, Claudius, will remain, for I am a God! [Caratacus:] You will have to face me! My father lived right here, and his father before. [Claudius:] The Imperial Eagle flies! [Caratacus:] This land's where I was born free is how I fall. [Claudius:] Pretentious and naive, your people soon will die For Rome! For Claudius! Men, fight for me! [Claudius and Caratacus:] We raise our swords! And we die on our feet! [Claudius:] Victors are who write the history, losers are erased. [Claudius and Caratacus:] No one will forget the immortal souls who died today.
