Old Night
Album • 2019
When we were young, we loved but didn’t know it Wiser now, we love still, but we don’t show it It’s a bloody mess this thing that we call life A rise, a fall, a stumble, a crawl - an eternal strife When we were young we could love but didn’t think of it Wiser now, dwelling on the past we wish we went for it It’s a hell of a thing to live with what we call regret The one that got away becomes the one we can’t forget I find it sad that there are dreams we dare not follow, That we loose ourselves in relations that make us feel so hollow And I find bitter all these lies we daily need to swallow So stupid this myriad of rules we blindly follow So one more time please break your heart with mine No matter which path you choose, ours will always entwine

Hearken brother, though I might have failed you An unvarnished truth is always a dreadful ordeal Inconsequential we all are in the greater scheme of things But sometimes the Devil has a cruel hand to deal So do we soldier on or crumble under an emotional tide? As we are often filled with self doubt and foolish pride But odious as it is, that’s just how it goes Merciless, the wheel keeps grinding and everybody knows Life will go out of it's way just to rob you of all the fun So we might as well take a trip to the moon or set sail for the sun We stared into the abyss and walked away head high We faced the Devil and looked him straight in the eye Do you remember, brother, the time when magic felt all too real? All but forgotten now as the Devil managed more of the soul to peel Strange are the paths that are laid before us And the shadows will often turn a hue deeper But we did battle with dragons before, you and I When all is said and done I‘m still my brother’s keeper Week is the flesh and fragile is the mind Our time on Earth is measured by the world we leave behind

A tired king wore A weary brow for a crown Upon his broken back a heavy cross That weights him down His calloused hands but a cradle now For his wrinkled forehead Yet still he lingers on while greater men Lay forgotten and dead Silent as ever, old age crept up And as he approached nearer There was a strange familiarity In the eyes staring from the mirror Oh, heavy heart of an old soul In such a fragile husk With a misty eye, a heartfelt smile Awaiting the final dusk

Everything is white Frozen the horizon It is so cold A heart chilling Black abyss In that icy hold Deep is the winter Deep is the snow Deeper only the hole At the very bottom Of that endless sorrow Lay the remains of your heart and soul So cold For so long

In darkness we are left to dwell Bound to our own grief Hand in hand we walk with sorrow Our misery baffles belief In that solemn silence A mere whisper may sound like thunder A spark to light a fire A storm that will tear all asunder So spread your wings and soar little men I've seen your heads hung too low You need to reach for the stars once again For we all reap what we sow The truth is the hardest to face It is excuses we are seeking now To avoid calling this „the end“ When love becomes a fading echo Of a distant memory The reaping of hearts is at hand
