The Amber Glow of the Gaslight
I doused the only light there was,
striving to rid you of your flaws,
failings slaughtered like little lambs,
but now your blood is on my hands.

I regret casting you to the storm,
far from all that's safe and warm,
but fallacy buzzing like a swarm,
inside your head's become the norm.

I've sown seeds of doubt in private places,
aided by half-truths concealed by my face,
but when the match of self-doubt ignites,
you'll warm to the glow of the gaslight.

Gaslights hang in old trees decayed,
swaying between the light and shade,
all are mesmerized by the amber glow,
where lies the truth? None can know.
