I remember, back in the day I burned the fire inside a big ol' train Day and night I worked to earn my wage I made sure we rolled it down the rails Then, one cold winter night, as the rain wouldn't stop Ahead from the darkness, a light stared us down As we reached towards that eerie light The engineer and I were locked on sight Another train was howling on our tracks Face to face, we were about to crash Then, the train took a turn, in front of our eyes Frozen, we watched as they screamed in the night Faces, screaming! This can not be real Fear had led me to a different work Three whole months, I set the tracks instead Tales and stories of the train I heard A hundred years ago, it crashed and burned Then, like lightning, it struck, straight through my thoughts The train we had seen, was it real, or... The river of time that flows through our lives Is starting to die each year that goes by People are changing, the world has gone numb We all try to follow the beat of this drum! Dignity, honor, has died, they’re no more! They exist in the tales that children read from Honesty, truth, have long gone away! We cannot get by, with no ‘lie of the day’ Where is the world that I’ve read in my youth? A place full of dreams, where people were true! What is the meaning of life in our days?
