Within these walls, my confinement lies, Within this town, where solitude's ties. A captive soul, gasping for release, This stagnant air, my chest cannot appease. Slowly, slowly, I fade into the haze, A specter of who I was, lost in the maze. The echoes of my essence, a distant refrain, As I wander these streets, burdened with pain. Refrain: In this quest to escape, I seek solace afar, Running from faces, from shadows that mar. But the harder I flee, the closer they creep, Those demons within, my secrets to keep. Oh, the irony of fleeing from the crowd, When it's my own reflection that screams aloud. A futile pursuit, to outrun my own plight, For within myself, I must face the night. Surrounded by the masses, like maggots they crawl, Their presence, a reminder of my dwindling thrall.
